Imagine a pink ku kueh

Only when I wanted to blog about it now then I realise that I've forgotten to take a picture of it.

We made "pink ku kueh" last Sat.

What's "pink ku kueh" you ask? It's actually the pink colour version of "ang ku kueh" lah. lol

The guys had a LAN gaming session on Sat morning-afternoon, so the ladies decided to do some CNY baking. In the end, we made "ang ku kueh" although it's not a CNY goody and it wasn't even baking. Lol! It was an impromptu decision as we happened to see banana leaves at the supermarket and just decided to do it.

The original plan was to do half batch with peanut fillings & half batch with the mung bean filling. But due to time constraints and some hiccups along the way, we made everything with the peanut fillings.

The "ang ku kueh" turned out "pink" because supermarket didn't sell the red colour food dye and we only had rose syrup on hand so we poured a little of it on the dough. And "pink ku kueh" was born.

When Junyong saw the pink-coloured kueh, he asked if we're making "png kueh" (a type of teochew kueh with glutinous rice, peanuts and mushrooms inside) -_-

Anyway, Despite the divergent appearance from it's traditional red colour, it was delicious! Everyone agreed. :p

Sorry, no pictures! You can only use your imagination for now until the next time we make it again & I'll try to remember to take & post up a picture of it. haha!

12/2 update: Imagine no more! Friend took a quick snap of the pink ku kueh that she 'tabao' home when she saw my blogpost lacking the picture. Thanks Jingying!
