Home-made Ice Kachang

Despite the cold weather... we had crazy cravings for Ice-Kachang. Sheue Lei & Ricky found a really cheap manual ice shaver for 5bucks and we decided to have a go at it last Saturday. :p

It was a tedious process. The guys took turn at shaving the ice, so we could have 5 bowls of shaved ice to be shared among 9 of us. It's really hard work but they had fun. kekeke!

Afterwhich, we just have to put whatever ingredients that we like inside our own bowl of shaved ice to make the sweet tasting Ice-Kachang! We seemed to be making a unique version whereby most of the ingredients differ from the Singapore version, we had limited colorings and the ingredients were on top of the ice, rather than underneath.

Here's a picture of my final product with a little bit of rose syrup underneath, longans, attap chee, yam sago, grass jelly, red beans & condensed milk on top:

The good thing about making your own Ice-Kachang?

You can top up with more ingredients when you're only halfway through the ice. That's what we all did. :p
